Just be aware that Snopes does have a distinct bias, but it usually only shows on political stuff, and then on the margins. Generally, it takes the form of, if a Republican says something similar to an accusation, it is marked as True, but if a Democrat says something but it "needs context", then it is "inconclusive". And if a Democrat didn't use the exact words, then it is "False."

Generally, they are very quick to bend things to make Republican flubs "True" but willing to give all manner of doubt to Democrats.

It wasn't my friend who went off - it was someone in her address book. Had I not done a "reply all," it would never have happened, and I would have lost the opportunity to make a snarky post. :)

And I *needed* to be snarky last night (reference the aforementioned "bad day at work")

Sgt. Mom,

Have you tried getting in touch with Costco Corporate. They

have a monthly magazine they send to members. They have

contests where you can try to win a book. Maybe you could

suggest that Costco consider some local authors & explain that

people who used to live somewhere due to service rotations or

just occupational moves might also be interest in "local

authors".

Best Wishes

I wish that day would come along a little faster. It's been almost three years since I stopped working full-time, four years since the last job that I really felt secure in. I'm living on nerves and the ability to juggle part-time jobs while scraping out some book sales here and there.

I hope she wasn't a good friend - someone who slides off the rails and beings screaming (in all caps) is someone who I would not particularly miss.

Re: Snopes - I have broken quite a lot of my acquaintances of sending me all sorts of internet-fueled rumors, by referring them to Snopes. I've probably been a bit of a pain about it, but god knows there is enough garbage out there!
